Our Present Selves is a durational video work containing documentation of myself and the people I grew close to in the winter of 2021. Combining interview segments with montaged clips of our daily lives, this work served as a mode of preserving our memories. Placing love, support, the perils of self reflection, and the exploration of identity in relation to each other, this work examines how we come to know ourselves through knowing others. Our Present Selves explores coming to terms with a willingness to be seen and uses the decisive capturing of fleeting moments to interrogate the nostalgia, the role of chosen family, and immaterial notions of home.
